History

Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara is the brainchild of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, The Executive Governor of Kogi State. The dream came to be out of the burning desire to relieve citizens of Kogi State who are familiar with the mode of admission into Nigerian Universities; such as secondary school leavers of the state yearning for opportunities to pursue careers in science and technology related specialisations. Stories of Kogi indigenes scoring impressively high marks in UTME, yet finding it difficult to secure admissions into medicine, engineering, pharmacy, and a host of other professional programme have become commonplace and increasingly traumatising. The search for opportunities to assuage this annual nerve-wracking experience, still relying on the existing facilities in the state and the country in general had become a mere mirage.

 The establishment of CUSTECH represents the ultimate in Kogi State government’s resolve to widen the spectrum of opportunities for the younger generation to meet the challenges of the future, achieve self-actualisation and maximally contribute their quota to national development and beyond.Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara a state owned university in Kogi State Nigeria was established on the 10th November, 2020. It is located along Okene- Kabba road about 19km from Lokoja. The university operations first started in Lokoja in 2020 with the pioneer Vice Chancellor Engr. Professor Salawu Sadiku and Ms Olufunke Hudson as the Registrar, the university moved to Osara Campus in 2021 where Kogi State Polytechnic Osara Campus was formerly domiciled.Creation of a specialised university of science and technology became a compelling necessity in Kogi 

State if succour be brought to Kogi state youths that are in dire need of the opportunities embedded in that type of institution. Kogi State Polytechnic Osara was moved to the Itakpe Campus after the creation of Confluence University of Science and Technology as approved by the Kogi State House of Assembly.
CUSTECH Osara started lectures on the permanent site at Osara on the 15th of June, 2021 as students were busy moving from a class to another for lectures. The first set of students admitted into the university in the year 2021 was 235. The university started with the following 12 programmes; Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Statistics, Computer Science, Cyber security science, Information Technology and Software Engineering.

To provide a most conducive teaching and learning environment that robustly supports both the teachers and learners in cultivating and sustaining critical thinking culture as well as knowledge discovery, application, preservation and exchange, and promote strategic values for the intellectual development of humanity in general and the nation in particular.
