Undergraduate Program



The Department of Architecture was established in June 2023 along side with other four departments in the School of Environmental science (SEV). The pioneer staff are; Dr. A. Salawu, Mr. A.M Audu, Mr. M.A Otu and Mrs. J.O Abutu. It currently runs an undergraduate (B.Tech) programmes in Architecture. The B.Tech is a five-year programme and maximum of seven and a half years for UTME candidates.  Direct Entry (DE) candidates that start from 200 level have a minimum of four years and a maximum of six years, while those that start from 300 level have a minimum of three years and a maximum of four and a half years.

 The bodies that accredit the department are, National University Commission (NUC) and Architect Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).

To train students that would become world class professionals in the field of Architecture for both  national and international building industries.

The Department of Architecture will explore all available human, technical and material resources to create a functional and conducive learning environment to train graduates that contribute and function effectively in the construction industry and society at large regardless of their location.

  • UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) Entry Requirement

Candidates who have successfully completed the Senior School Certificate and obtained five O-level credits in Mathematics, Physics, English and any two of the following subjects: Chemistry, Technical drawing, Economics, Geography, Building Construction, Fine Art and Surveying are considered qualified.

  • Direct Entry Requirement

A candidate who fulfils ordinary level requirements above and in addition holds a National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate in Architectural Technology at credit level will be considered for direct entry admission into the 200 level or 300 level of the programme respectively.

A candidate who fulfils ordinary level requirements and who has obtained GCE Advanced level or equivalent passes in Mathematics and Physics, and Mathematics or Physics and any other subject may also be admitted at the 200 level of the programme.

In the first year, the students will study some basic sciences together with a few introductory courses that will prepare them for the subsequent years ahead. The entire programme is designed to accommodate students with background in social and physical sciences subjects who may wish to undertake the programme.

The duration for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) is 5 years.

  • The duration of Architectural Technology training is five (5) years. Graduates are expected to prove the mastery of architectural technology profession through design projects, thesis, media communication and people centred entrepreneurial knowledge.

    • UTME

    For a UTME student to obtain B.Tech. (Hons) Architectural Technology programme, students must take and pass minimum of 120 credit units or as may be determined by level of entry including all compulsory courses.

    • Direct Entry

    For DE student to obtain B.Tech. (Hons) Architectural Technology programme, the student must take and pass a minimum of 90 units or as may be determined by the level of entry including all compulsory courses.

  • For a student to be eligible for graduation and award of. B.Tech (Hons) Architectural he/she must satisfy all he GST, core and elective courses as prescribed by the Department. He/she must in addition undergo the Student work Experience Programme (SWEP) for one month and the three-month Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
