CUSTECH INAUGURATES FIRST ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, SETS UP INTERIM EXECUTIVE
… VC charges graduates to support and take ownership of their alma mater
The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has inaugurated the first Alumni Association of the University and constituted an Interim Executive to steer its affairs.
The historic ceremony, which took place at the University Auditorium on Friday, July 24, 2026, was attended by graduates from the pioneer, second and third sets of the young University.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, congratulated the alumni on the formation of the association, describing them as the future of the University.
He said the inauguration marked the beginning of a lifelong relationship between the graduates and their alma mater.
“This is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the University. You should know that you are the future of CUSTECH,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
Prof. Salawu expressed his joy at witnessing the birth of the University’s first Alumni Association during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor. He commended the vision of the Founder of the University and former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, whose vision, he said, had produced the first set of CUSTECH alumni.
The Vice-Chancellor also appreciated the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued support for the growth and development of the University, which has now produced its third set of graduates.
In her keynote address, the University Registrar, Mrs Glory Ojochogu Yakubu, highlighted the importance of alumni associations to the growth and development of universities. She explained the expectations of the University from the alumni, reminding them that they are ambassadors of CUSTECH wherever they find themselves.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Dean of Student Affairs, Associate Prof. Shehu A. Shaib, expressed appreciation to the former students for responding to the invitation despite the short notice.
The University Management subsequently invited the graduates present to nominate an Interim Executive Committee that would commence the process of building the Alumni Association.
Following an open and transparent process, the graduates nominated and unanimously accepted the following members to serve as the Interim Executives:

In his acceptance speech, the Interim Alumni President, Comrade Musa Faruk Amoto, popularly known as Futti, expressed gratitude to the University Management and his fellow alumni for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to work closely with the University Management and other members of the association to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of CUSTECH and take the University to greater heights.
The ceremony was attended by members of the University Management, including the University Librarian, Mrs Helen Osebequen Chris-Israel; Director, Academic Planning, Pharm. Muhammed Asuku Audu; Director,Advance and Development Office and External Collaboratiion Linkages, Alhaji Usman Obansa; Director, Works and Maintenance, Engr. Rufai Sadiq; and Director, Procurement, Alhaji Sadiq Buhari Ozomata; Deputy Registrar Academic, Mr Eli Usman Gbadafu.
It would be recalled that CUSTECH held its maiden combined Convocation Ceremony for the first and second sets of graduates in 2025, laying the foundation for the establishment of the University’s first Alumni Association.
