The Vice Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, has called on society to give women more opportunities in leadership positions.

He made this declaration today, Friday 17th April,2026, at the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Kogi State Chapter Investiture and Workshop, held at the Faculty of Law Auditorium, where he was represented by the University Registrar, Mrs. Gloria Ojochogu Yakubu.

Mrs Yakubu, while speaking at the Investiture, congratulated the newly inaugurated Executive members of the NIOB, Kogi State Chapter, led by Builder Aisha Orumah Sylvanus, commending the Institute for entrusting leadership to a woman for a successive tenure. She noted with admiration that the immediate past Chairman, Bldr. Mrs. Modupe Obafemi, handed over to another female leader, stressing that this was a testament to competence and trust. “If the Immediate Past Chairman had not performed excellently, the Institute would not have elected another woman to lead,” she stated.

The workshop, themed “Constructing Tomorrow: Innovating Construction & Entrepreneurship — IoT and Metaverse,” had Builder Prof. Emmanuel Achienu, FNIOB, Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Abraka, as the Keynote Speaker, who delivered an insightful address on the future of construction, technology, and entrepreneurship. The event provided a platform for professionals in the building Industry and CUSTECH students in the department of Building Technology, to explore innovations shaping the construction sector.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to distinguished personalities, including the Honourable Commissioner for Urban and Housing, Kogi State, Hon. Taiye Abanika, and the Director of Physical Planning and Development, Bldr. Ismail Adoke, who also serves as Patron of the NIOB Kogi State Chapter.
