The Management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has paid a historic courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chancellor of CUSTECH,Osara ,Kogi State,His Royal Highness, Barr. A. E. Abumere, LL.B, the Onojie of Ekpoma, in his palace in Ekpoma, Edo State.
The delegation was led by the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, who conveyed the warm congratulations of the entire university community to the revered monarch.
Prof. Salawu, speaking on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students, expressed delight at the appointment of HRH Barr. Abumere by the Kogi State Government. He formally presented the letter of appointment to the Chancellor and extended personal felicitations from the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The Vice Chancellor also formally notified the Chancellor that his official Investiture Ceremony has been scheduled to hold during the university’s maiden Convocation on the 29th of November, 2025.
In his response, His Royal Highness, Barr. A. E. Abumere, expressed his profound appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the honour of choosing him to serve as the Chancellor of what he described as “the fastest-growing specialized university in Nigeria.”
The monarch stated that his appointment is a call to higher duty and pledged his full commitment to the role. He urged the Governing Council, Management, and Staff of the university to work closely with him as a team to actualize the vision and mission of CUSTECH.
The Onojie of Ekpoma also took a moment to commend the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for the good work he is doing in the state.
The palace chiefs, led by Chief Thomas Irepkono who spoke on their behalf, thanked the Kogi State Government for the wisdom in selecting their monarch for the prestigious position. Chief Irepkono expressed confidence that with the Onojie of Ekpoma Kingdom as Chancellor, CUSTECH Osara would “continue to grow speedily” and achieve greater heights.
The Vice Chancellor was accompanied on the visit by members of the university’s management team, including the Registrar, Ms. Olufunke Hudson; the University Bursar, Mr. John Alaji; the University Librarian, Mr. Jeremiah Salifu; the Director of Academic Planning, Pharm. Mohammed Asuku Audu; the Director of Physical Planning and Development, Bldr. Ismeal Adoke; and the Head of Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Mr. Austyn Ochu.
