The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has made history as the Faculty of Science and Technology Education successfully hosted the institution’s first-ever International Education Conference at the University Auditorium on Tuesday , November 11, 2025.
The groundbreaking conference, themed “Innovative Approaches and Interdisciplinary Strategies for Advancing Education and Technology in the 21st Century,” brought together academia, educators, and stakeholders to deliberate on contemporary issues shaping modern education.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Vice Chancellor and Chief Host, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, congratulated the Faculty of Science and Technology Education for this historic milestone, noting that it was the first international conference of its kind in the university’s history.
Prof. Salawu encouraged participants to leverage the conference as an opportunity for professional development, urging them to “go back home as better educators with innovative ideas in making learning better for students.”
The keynote speaker, Prof. Uche S. Anaduaka, a Professor of Mathematics Education from the University of Abuja, delivered an inspiring address titled “Reimagining Learning: Innovative Pathways for Training and Transforming Education through Technology in the 21st Century.”
Prof. Anaduaka emphasized the critical need for educationists to keep pace with technological trends to deliver effectively on their responsibilities and remain relevant in the rapidly evolving educational landscape.
Prof. Abdullahi Aliyu Dada, a Professor of Curriculum and Instruction from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, presented the lead paper titled “Exploring Innovative Approaches and Interdisciplinary Strategies for Advancing Higher Education in Nigeria: Enhancing Learning Engagements, Outcomes and Promoting Equity.”
In his presentation, Prof. Dada stressed the importance of lecturers adopting innovative classroom strategies when engaging with students to enhance learning outcomes and ensure educational equity.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Emmanuel Jose Ohize, expressed gratitude to the university management for their unwavering support in making the conference a reality. He encouraged students and participants to maximize the opportunity by absorbing insights from the cutting-edge discussions and paper presentations.
Other principal officers in attendance at the conference included, the University Librarian, Mr. Jeremiah Salifu, and the Director of Academic Planning, Pharm. Muhammed Asuku Audu.
