The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, on Tuesday held its 6th Orientation Programme to formally welcome newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Declaring the event open, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Shehu, delivered the welcome address and charged the students to be committed to academic excellence and disciplined conduct. He also presented the opening remarks on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Engr. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, who was unavoidably absent.
The orientation featured a series of lectures aimed at preparing the fresh students for academic and social life on campus.
The Registrar, Ms. Olufunke Hudson, delivered a presentation on Basic CUSTECH Policies and Regulations, emphasizing adherence to the rules and values of the institution.
A representative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Officer Yakubu, warned students about the dangers of drug abuse and its far-reaching consequences.
Addressing security concerns, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ekpe O. Asuquo, spoke on tips and strategies for security and personal safety, urging students to stay vigilant both on and off campus.
Health matters were highlighted by the Director of University Medical Services, Dr. Ibrahim O. Yahaya, who admonished students to cultivate a healthy lifestyle and make use of available medical facilities.
The aspect of financial management was handled by the University Bursar, represented by Alh. Hussein, the Internal Auditor, who lectured the students on financial literacy and responsible spending.
On academic procedures, the Director of Academic Planning, Pharm. Audu Asuku, explained the CUSTECH Examination Policies and Course Credit Grading System.
Students were also introduced to the academic resources available to them, with a lecture on “Exploring the CUSTECH Library” delivered on behalf of the University Librarian by Abdulazeez Sadiq.
In closing, the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Abdul Karim, delivered the closing remarks, appreciating all participants and encouraging the new students to make the most of their time at CUSTECH.
The event was well attended by Deans, Heads of Departments, and other staff members, marking a successful start to the academic journey of the new intake.
